There has been, in the fishing movie world, before and after AEG Media (The Trout Bums series) and there will be before and after A Backyard in Nowhere. AEG Media has introduced fish porn shown with the best editing cuts and good music but has always lacked on the human side. A Backyard in Nowhere succeed in that and regarding the fish porn the directors confessed in This Is Fly : In total we caught and release about a thousand pike. The shooting last five weeks, with four rods I leave you with the mental arithmetic !
Besides the astonishing scenery and the very hot fish porn (I am not speaking about the babes from the bonus vid!), A Backyard in Nowhere carry a real spirit, a fly fishing western narrated with a Big Lebowski voice style that catch you up with a smile. Like in a true western you have good guys and bad guys, without telling too much let’s say that the bad guys here are not the one you thought were the craziest. For sure it’s Alaska, wild and tough life overthere ! The danish fly fishing wild bunch are endearing as the true adventurers living their dreams and more than 10 pike specimen are caught live during this too short 52 minutes masterpiece. What’s next guys ?
Le trailer a déjà pêté les 20 000 vues sur YouTube en a peine un mois, A Backyard In Nowhere était le film que tout le monde attendait. Il est sorti en DVD le 15 octobre et on l’a acheté.
Et si il y a eu, dans le monde du film de pêche, un avant et après AEG Media (les séries Trout Bums), aujourd’hui il y a un avant et après A Backyard In Nowhere…
Si AEG a apporté un sens du fish porn réhaussé d’un montage au rasoir sur du bon son, le coté humain y était souvent décevant. Dans A Backyard In Nowhere c’est justement les personnages qui expriment la rudesse et le caractère violemment naturelle de ces plaines perdues d’Alaska : un western moderne avec des bons et des méchants où les plus tarés ne sont pas ceux auxquels on pourrait penser. Il y a des alcoolos attachants et des guides de pêche honteusement antipathiques, une voix off à la Big Lebowski et des plans classieux. Quant au fish porn, l’équipe de tournage confiait à This Is Fly avoir capturé et relaché plus de 1000 brochets sur les 5 semaines de tournage. Un vrai bon film quoi !
