Our Mouching Ambassador Grégoire Ribert tellus all about his summer…

Once again I heard the call from the North and once again, I couldn’t resist. The date was set, sathurday we would leave fro Lapland. Stockholm, then Kiruna and at last the Katitum river.

In half an hour we would be at the camp. From the chopper that’s taking us I cannot take my eyes off the taïga that spreads miles around us, reindeers and moose run away, scared by the sound of the engine. As we land, it’s always the same ritual, Anne Helen and her staff are waiting for us and in less than an hour we will be fishing ! [slideshow]

The week is going to be awesome and once again it will be too short. There are a few fishermen at the camp and we will be alone on the fishing spots. At midday after having had a grayling on the fire, a little nap and off we go again ! The river is filled with starving graylings, but every day they want to change their menu! Some days we would catch them with big klinkhammers and the next day they would only rise on little black gnats. The most amazing was to see the graylings looking for food in calm waters, their fin out, like permit, some other times they would only feed on a current by the bank of the river. In this cold river the fish are strong and fight like tigers, as for the trouts, they empty your reel and you break once your backing is out…

As every where in the Nothern part of the hemisphere, the night almost doesn’t exist, an endless sunset or sunrise..hard to tell… on thing is clear : it’s beautifull!

Next year, I will go back, once more.
