Loop Cross S1, one of the world’s best rod? Probably! One of the lightest and fastest, one of the most pleasant rod to use. I had the luck to test two models, #5 and #10 and they both gave me the same feeling: being able to cast for hours with precision and without feeling the weight of the rod!  This is specialy true with the Cross S1 #10, amazingly powerful and yet so light. I’ve been sending my crabs in two casts all day long, with shaprness, precision and at good distance, although I’m not the best caster around. That is probably what I would remember of my trip with this rod, it’s fast, light and terribly accurate.

Of course you’ll have to gete the right reel, with such a light rod if you want to have the perfect match, you cannot use any of the heavy reels you have the perfect match comes with a Loop reel, and who would complain? They are also one fo the best reels ever! The handle is comfortable, not too fat, nor too thin, it holds well in the hand and the cork it’s made of is excellent. It’s a very important point when you are casting double haul for more than six hours a day. As for the #5, it has been a fantastic field test in Patagonia, we’ve been able to use it on all sorts of waters, lake, stream, river, springcreek, chalkstream, using streamers, nymphs, small CDC, big fat Tchernobyl, we had the luck to hold big fish with no problem and its power allowed us to cast far very easily, only with a few casts. We’ve also used it to nymph right under the rod and it worked well. The #5 is less sensible to the weight of the reel than the #10, I tried several type of reels on it and it didn’t bother me at all, while the rod is still very light!

Those rod are amazingly strong, well built, comfortable to use, they both hold very well the fish and seem to be the ideal rod to go traveling with. Of course they are a bit expensive but it’s Xmas, isn’t it? So if you wonder which rod to ask Santa to bring you, we definatly recommend the Loop Cross S1 series. one fo the best rods of the world![slideshow]
