When I was a kid my mother had a mahogany canoe shipped to Europe from Canada, it was for me a craddle, my first playground, a vehicle to freedom and the first ride to take my girlfriends in. It also brought magic to my life, as a baby I used to spend my naps in the canoe, it smelled good, the perfume of the wood was something special. Funny enough whenever I am fishng from a boat, I have to fight not to sleep, the sound of the water against the boat, the way it gentky rocks, everything reminds me my childhood. I miss a canoe. A wooden one. Here’s an amazing and beautiful film from Northern about the birth of a Dugout canoe. A gem.
