Beautiful short film by Aslak Lefèvre on the birth of a knife in Pierre-Elie Gaspin’s worshop. Editing and grading are spot on, the film grammar is under control to put forward an emotion, the place’s ambient. I just can’t get of seeing those precise movements, working noble materials with respect, almost in a contemplative mood. It is a long lasting marvel to see matter folding to the will of the a craftsman, and becoming a thing of beauty. Here’s to you Aslak, and Pierre-Elie! For the film, and the knives.
