Fly fishing isn’t ONLY fishing with a rod and a fly, it’s much more than that! It allows us to touch a part of ourselves, where our emotions are lodged. Fly fishing has a therapeutic role that allows us to live with our present, and sometimes to repair the past.
Here we are with this group of women, veterans and ex-servicewomen, bruised by the hard times of combat, who are repairing themselves. They repair themselves by doing what we all love, fly-fishing, because to fish, you have to be 150% in the present moment, which leaves little room for the past, and which allows you to access the gratitude of being totally immersed in what you’re doing. Our world is shrinking, and if we really want to dedicate ourselves to what we love, then the memories and happiness of the present moment take the place of nightmares of traumatic events, and a new life is possible.
Such a moving film.
