We love this film by Fly Fishing Nation, probably because we’re finally seeing a film that’s really built and not just some guy filming with his GoPro… And then there’s the soundtrack (La Promesa -intrumental- by Manga Corta) but not only that, there’s the sound editing, there’s the shots, in short, it’s good to see real work on a fishing film. Not sure it’s on dry flies, though.
Xcalak has become the Permit Mecca after dethroning Punta Allen and Ascension Bay, where for almost 30 years now, every fly fisherman on earth has been rushing to catch Permits! But beyond this detail, there is real fishing pressure on this fish previously sought after for the quality of its flesh (it feeds exclusively on crabs and especially sea urchins, which, it seems, makes it delicious…). In short, you still have a few months to get your Flexo Crab on (and it’s no piece of cake) to go Permit fishing, one of the hardest fish to catch! Enjoy the film!
