If you really want to get bored in the USA, they say you should go to South Dakota! And that’s exactly where Wild Fly is taking us, on a fun challenge: fly-fishing in the most boring state in the USA… Well, here we go, to South Dakota!
At the end of my teens, I was working on a farm in Aveyron (South West of France) and we had an American trainee come to spend a year discovering the Lacaune ewes and their milk for Roquefort cheese! The guy was afraid of cows, had rubber cowboy boots and a baseball cap permanently glued to his head. He was from South Dakota, from Sioux Falls (the name alone was enough to make you dream), but the reality seemed very different, and it’s pretty well described in this film. The guy’s name was John Donald, I spent a year with him, I never saw him run after the cows or any animal, no matter what. We had fun, even if he never went fishing. In any case, even if it’s the most boring state in the USA, there are still more fish than at home!
RIP John Donald, I thought of you when I saw this movie.
