THE legend, Flip Pallot is THE legend of the Keys and the Everglades. He single-handedly represented the most generous spirit, inviting you into his world of saltwater fly fishing and a life completely immersed in Florida’s nature. The definition of cool. Flip left us on Tuesday, but he leaves us with so much that he is not completely gone.
From his days as a cowboy in Montana to becoming a master of tarpon fishing and a connoisseur of the mangrove maze, Flip was a true icon who inspired a whole generation of fly fishermen. He was passionate and completely cool at the same time. When I first heard about him more than 30 years ago, he commanded respect with his imposing presence and relaxed cowboy style, which made Tarpons jump like no other.
Man, thank you, you inspired me so much. Every time I saw you in the pages of magazines or in films about fishing in Florida, you made me want to be in your shoes. Possessed by that feeling of freedom and commitment. Thank you for everything.
Go search the web, you’ll be impressed by the number of films (not to mention the Walker’s Cay Chronicles), but take a look at his channel. Flip Pallot Outdoors!
