Monsieur Daniel L… du Tréport ( Seine Maritime ) nous écrit:

« Cher Mouching.

Dear Mouching.  When I was a child, at a very tender age, I was initiated by my uncle Gilbert S. who lived at 5 Place du General De Gaulle in Dieppe (Seine Maritime, the capital of kites) into a method of fishing that has no equal for amassing a phenomenal harvest of fish and inflating our kitty at the end of the month. It is, what one wittily calls, »fishing with dynamite ».  It’s apparent simplicity is only equalled by it’s efficacy. It’s enough to simply toss a stick (of the above mentioned product) into the water. Of course it is necessary to light the wick beforehand, being careful not to blow-up your fingers (which happened to my poor uncle Gilbert who had drunk 10 Casanis pastis and now, unfortunately, has only five fingers, which is only half, if I calculate correctly). Today, my dear Mouching, won over by your generous ideas of « no-kill » I would like to know if it’s possible to continue this lovely technique of fishing with dynamite while practicing your very « modern » no-kill.

Cher Daniel L…. Fishing with dynamite is without contest an efficient technique.  To our great joy even Vilmo, our young and impetuous collaborator, is a devotee. You have to see the tears of joy flowing down his beardless adolescent cheeks when, with great agility, he nets all of the fish floating on their backs. What transpires is a lovely spectacle, moving and we don’t hesitate to say: viril. The practice of « dynamite’ no-kill is simple. Before you toss the stick of dynamite into the sea or river, you must first cut-off the barb from the wick. No-more missing fingers, no-more blinded eyes. You will become a resolutely « modern » fisherman, and like us, you can sing out loud and clear the sublime maxim of our grand Master, the philosopher Cioran: « Etre moderne, c’est bricoler dans l’incurable ». (To be modern is to mess around in the incurable)
