Today it was cold and rainy, truly gloomy weather that would keep any fisherman indoors.
After enjoying a can of peaches, foie gras brought directly from Sarlat, a bottle of Bordeaux grand cru aged over fifteen years, and finishing with Saint Nectaire cheese and Laguiole cheese from my village, we collapsed in front of the TV, devouring refreshing mandarins. But it would be wrong to think that we were going to sleep. No sooner had we made coffee than we set off for what we consider to be paradise: Key West 1973.

And not with just anyone! Guy de la Valdène, Richard Brautigan, Jim Harrison, Tom McGuane, who used to spend the winter in Florida when they were starting out as screenwriters for Hollywood, Brautigan, their poet friend, was there for friendship and fun. The best guides, tarpon as big as calves jumping out of the water and sparkling in the tropical sun, the music of Jimmy Buffett, relaxation, and the good life. All filmed by Christian Odasso, a Frenchman who escaped from advertising films. A moment of pure happiness. Then they left for the cold and rain, their heads full of sunshine and adventure.
Want to do the same? TARPON, Order it quickly before Christmas, an incredible film.
