A tear in my eye, yes I’m wirtting this post with a tear in my eye. This  tims of the year for the past 15 years I would be in Cuba. I would spent the first week with my friends in Havana, dancing, walking in hthe city at night, life a la cubana at least how we imagine it to be like, going to secret places, having diner at Santy’s the fisherman in his secret restaurant in Jamainitas , than cruising with our friend Flaco and his old russian car, to finish at La Torre,  this hidden club on the rooftop of an abandonned factory where we would dance until sunrise when your eyes begin to sting and your legs cannot danse no more. Than we would go home to our secret little villa we used to rent after the Marina, by the sea, and as the birds were singing and the crickets beating the rythm, we would have a last swim in the ocean. Than going to bed with the music still playing in our head, and dreaming of the fish we will catch on the flats in a few days.

Santy is  on trip advisor, so is La Torre, our secret house is on Airbnb, Flaco bought himself an old Chevy to taxi the tourists, the fishing is twice expensive, the first cruise boats big as buildings are unloading thousands of passenger wo will go down the streets of Old Havana. I still have my memeories of how “it used to be” and I have the music still playing in my head. and this will never change! Thanks to Gilles Peterson for this jewel, first of a serie of 3 cuban mixes, I’m crying of joy and sadness of a lost paradise.
