In the East French Pyrénées, there is a very special place where you can only get to walking: the Carlit, moutain lakes, little streams, aand awesome landscapes. The most famous is le lac des Bouillouses because once it was part of the French fly fishing championship, but the downside of it was that pretty soon, everyone wanted to go fishing there, but this lake needed protection so they’ve cut the road that led to it, now people have to walk, not much but it’s enough to refrain a lot of fishermen, than to protect one of the only place in France where rainbow trout are reproducing, they made very strict laws, you cannot fish wherever you want or whenever you want, which is good. SO if you ever go to Pyrénées Orientales or, Catalogne, it’s really worth the trek!
