Francesc Roig Toqués loved the sea profoundly, but for his last 70 years ailments confined him to land. Unable to live the seafaring life he had always imagined, Toqués brought the sea to his home, amassing a strange and wondrous collection of oceanic artifacts that eventually became Catalonia’s Museum of Marine Curiosities and attracted people from far and wide. Based on a letter that Toqués sent to an old friend and sailing partner about his dying wishes, The Fish Tamer explores Toqués’ stunning collection, which vividly reveals his insatiable love of the sea.
