Tim Rajeff, one of my casting and cool marketing heros, seems to have taken lessons with McNeil, THE cool marketing and casting that catch (Newzelander) hero. Results? Two new rods series from Echo: fiberglass in large caliber to 12wt) aptly named BadAss Glass (pure sNcNeil style) and some finesse carbon from 2 to 6wt, the Carbon XL. We’ve got no idea of what they’re worth, but since value is usually an Echo signature, we thought it would interest you.
As far as I’m concerned, the only Echo I know is my own MPR, a little training contraption I absolutely adore. My it’s a stretch to extrapolate from that to the rest. Echo knows how to do a glass rod, the Glass series’ reputation is solid. But making a 9′ 12wt work is quite a different animal, so I’m not sure about them BadAsses. With luck, I’ll find a way to test them somehow. Anyway, it’s commercials time.
