Real world. This is the real world, not a world of bearded men, stinking like skunks, sptitting, eating raw meat and cursing all the time. The lumberjack image of the flyfisher in the great outdoors is off the window. We need  a little delicassy in our tough fly fishermen’s world, we need to change the air from time to time. Here Stefan Ågren brings us spring before Springtime.

Now, the slack. I remember being a newbie by the river and missing all my fish, I couldn’t understand why (I learn to fly fish on my own) I was casting ok, after having spent hours on a lawn aiming at a target with some wool at the end of my line, I would present the fly, ok, it would go down with the current, above the fish, the fish would move, my heart would beat so fast i could feel it, the trout would eat my fly, I would strike…well try to strike… but my arms were always too short, I had to pull them up in the air to pull the line, and it was not enough, I would have to run to the shore to tense the line…all of that because I was a beginner. SO when I see Stefan’s film… It was a time travel experience for me. Seing his girlfriend having the same problems stting the hook because of too much line on the water while she’s casting almost perfectly, reminded me that nothing stopps us, that when we love fly fishing we learn from our mistakes and it teaches us humility and ot taking ourselves too seriously. But it drives me mad to see that slack, it makes me want to scream”catch up your slack”! Hahaha !
