France has adopted a whole network of canals in the 19th century, not to evacuate water as they do in Netherlands, but to use them as a way of transportatino for goods. Some canals, such as Le Canal de Briare, were built in the 17th century, but our main watersystem is from the 19th. A lot of them are now only used for leisure and are not really well maintained, it’s Carp heaven!
Carp, they love still water, with food and seaweed to hide. France has miles and miles of canals to host those fish! But it’s not only hosting them, that is a must, it gives us the chance to catch big fat carp in the summer days, when the rivers are too low or too hot for trout, we found a way to have fun with carp, in the murky warm waters!
