Last night I bolted awake ! My eyes were wide open and I was sweating like a pig. I tumbled out of bed and swithched on the light. It blinded me. I tried to look at my watch, it said 4:28.Why on earth was I awake so early? I had eaten a light diner, a can of asparagus and crayfish soup, I worked untill midnight, had an herbal tea and went to bed like a baby. I slept with the window open so that I could feel the fresh air, and there I was, in the middle of the night with all the conditions right for blissful sleep, awake for no reason!

I wasn’t in my rightful mind, the bedroom walls were undulating. They were luminous, almost translucent. My furniture was metamorphosing: chairs turning into bushes, lamp stools into trees. I was using the sash from my bathrobe as if it were a fishing rod, trying to catch the objects that were floating in the air as if they were trout. A smooth wind was making the leaves from the tapestry shiver and shake, the foam from my blue carpet was splashing my face while I was going down that river… Suddenly, the sun was stronger and stronger, the boat crashed into a  rock. Thrown off balance I fell into the water.

I woke up around noon, naked on the blue carpet. My bathrobe sash in my hand, a enormous bump on my forehead. Around me everything was back to normal, the bed, the tapestry, the furniture. Everything was settled. I went to the kitchen to put some ice on my head. While the coffee was heating up, I looked through the garbage and took out the can of asparagus and crayfish soup. Squinting so I could read the very small letters printed under the “product of China”: “To be consumed before May 1990″… [vimeo https://vimeo.com/43394235]
