This video usually gets so much heat you’d say it’s a commercial for a brand of flame throwers. It’s skateboarding, and it’s different. Not unprecedented, skate history experts will mention Rodney Mullen in the late 80s, but very different. This is about a body free to move and about humor, in a subtle surrealist vein that is light years from the usual skate-jackass trip. I see a lot of Jacques Tati in this, a kind of Mr Hulot does freestyle. When I look at this guy, the way he moves, and reinvents old tricks to make them fresh again, I just smile: skate as a creative outlet and counterculture is not dead. It smells funny, but it always did.[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk8dy4NIzBU]
