This is a kind of anti fish porn. The fish haunts the film like a ghost, but what we’ve got here is more a kind of re-invention of the pastorale. Rather than Maupassant’s Partie de campagne, it’s more like an ode from Hugo, celebrating the powerful relation that binds us to what’s eternal in the rivers and the forests, and the timeless walk of the boy leading the cows to the pasture. With the gispy touch of Atkins and Travis, light and perfect antidote to the excesses of hugolian lyricism.[vimeo=https://vimeo.com/127125915]
