Stu Tripney is a legend in the South Island of New Zealand and in the small world of fly fishing too : fly tying master, guide, shop owner…. We met him 3 years ago while exploring the Upper Mataura this wonderful river where the fish are as abundant as hard to catch.

Effusive, colourful (nice tattoos !) lively and passionate by his job, Stu has settled in New Zealand from his native Scotland to Live The Dream and has built his reputation by using foam (the same stuff you have on your Chernobyl) to tie flies as crazy as their inventor. And if there are not made of foam they will have a very rock’n roll look, like Stu himself.
